2013 California BBQ Association - Team of the Year (ToY**) Event!
August 23 & 24, 2013. KCBS contest the morning of August 24th

This is a sanctioned Kansas City Barbeque Society* FOUR Meat Contest!

$8,500 in cash prizes, plus trophies.

BBQ teams and judges can receive a $69 room rate at the Konocti Vista Casino hotel. Call ahead to reserve a room and tell the hotel reservations desk that you are a participant or a judge to receive that rate. We expect to sell out the hotel for this weekend so make your reservations early. (All based on availability)

Early bird entry (less $50) ends July 15, 2013. To register by phone, call the casino accounting office and talk to "Debra" at 707.262.1900 ex 1197." She will fill out your application and take your credit card information over the phone. It is safe and easy. Or you can email the application to: cdellinger@kvcasino.com.

Prizes for Smokin' on the Water! Trophies for Grand Champion and Reserve Champion with trophies to top 5 and top 2 overall, plaques to 6th through 10th in each category. Cash prizes included:
1st Place - $500, 2nd Place - $400, 3rd Place - $300, 4 Place - $200, 5 Place - $100.

Grand Champion $1600 and Reserve Grand Champion $900.

$8,500 total in prizes, plus trophies. All money prize winners receive a voucher that they can immediately walk over to the casino cage window and pick up the cash. Fast and easy no waiting for a check!

Opens to the public for tastings and BBQ sales August 24th - 1:30pm to 5:00pm (After the official KCBS judging is completed). Outdoor Live Music, Classic Car Show and Microbeer tastings are nearby.

This year we will not have a People’s Choice award. Instead we are asking if the PRO BBQ teams would cook an addtional Pork Butt, Brisket or both (Konocti Vista will purchase and deliver) the meat at no cost to the BBQ teams, that would be turned over to the casino following the KCBS judging portion of the contest. Konocti Vista Casino would then handle all the food sales from 1:30pm to 5pm, on Saturday August 24th, and promote your team name. Please indicate on the first page of the application if your team is willing to cook the extra meat provided by the casino. The funds generated from these sales to the public will be donated to our local Middle Schools.

*THE KANSAS CITY BARBEQUE SOCIETY (KCBS), a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting and enjoying barbeque, is the world's largest organization of barbeque and grilling enthusiasts with over 13,000 members worldwide.
KCBS sanctions almost 300 barbeque contests coast-to-coast throughout America. From volunteering to actual event production, our members also offer assistance to civic and charitable organizations who organize events.

**CBBQA Team of the Year (ToY) is an annual "points" race under which CBBQA member teams compete in overall and specific meat categories. The winners of the annual contest are the Team(s) with the most points at the end of each year in the overall and each of the categories. In addition, there is a Rookie of the Year race in which new teams also compete.
